Developed by Nilüfer Municipality, the centre officially opened on 7 October 2026. Located in the Fethiye neighbourhood, it brings together virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence applications and digital learning activities under one roof.
Learning Through Hands-On Experience
The centre offers children and young people an opportunity to discover emerging technologies first-hand. Through digital applications and workshops, visitors can explore new tools and gain a closer understanding of the digital world.
Its purpose goes beyond simply introducing new technologies. Raising awareness of responsible and safe digital use is also among the centre’s key objectives.
A New Type of Experience Space for Urban Life
The Digital Experience Centre also reflects how local authorities are expanding the role of public spaces. Urban recreation is no longer limited to parks, sports facilities and outdoor activities. Spaces that encourage interaction with technology, support learning and appeal to different age groups are becoming part of this broader landscape.
The new centre in Nilüfer is one example of this shift at the local level. It highlights how technology-focused experience spaces can contribute to education, youth programmes and community life.
Whether similar centres will become more common in other cities remains to be seen. Their future development will depend, in part, on how local authorities approach investment in technology and new forms of public experience.
