The main programme, taking place on 24 September, focuses on how technology can be integrated into urban life in more effective ways. Different city experiences are being shared across topics such as mobility, sustainability, public services, urban planning and everyday needs, while discussions explore how the use of technology could evolve in the cities of the future.
One of the highlights of the programme is the opportunity to experience the city itself as part of the event. Through walks and hands-on programmes taking place at different locations across Breda, participants can explore solutions being implemented in the city first-hand. In this way, the event goes beyond a conventional conference setting and makes the city itself part of the programme.
Sharing examples from different cities is also among the key themes of the programme. Sessions address the needs local governments encounter when adopting new technologies, as well as data management, digital infrastructure and how cities can make their own decisions with greater independence.
At a time when the relationship between technology and urban life is becoming increasingly important, AI in the City 2026 offers different perspectives on the future of cities. The event aims to consider the ideas discussed not only from a technological perspective, but also in terms of the everyday experiences of people living in cities.
The three-day programme will conclude with a podcast day on 25 September. Following the gathering in Breda, experiences from different cities and future-oriented initiatives are expected to continue to be shared.
